How to Improve your Body Composition?

How many times, as spring comes around, have you decided to get into shape for the summer by undertaking a grueling exercise routine and committing to a restrictive diet? Well, if it’s more than once, know that you are not the only one… But why do we keep doing this to ourselves?

I truly believe that being healthy and feeling comfy in one’s own skin is something that is not only achievable but also sustainable. But there are a few habits you’ll need to stop if you want to break this cycle.
Here are my top tips to finally stop the desperate dieting and being healthy all year round:

1. Get some ZZZs
There’s a reason why we read stories to our kids before bed, because routine prepares the body for sleep. Try creating your own bedtime routine. Here’s mine: no screens 90min before bed, magnesium flake bath, a good book, a gratitude list, and diffusing some lavender.

2. Take time to prepare and eat all meals
Take the time to sit down and eat food you have prepared. No matter how busy your day is, you don’t have a life if you can’t take 30min to sit down and eat. Try chewing your food 30x before swallowing.

3. Stop stressing
Multitasking is not a skill, it is just doing multiple things at a substandard level. Focus on the ONE most important thing that needs to be done today and do it to the best of your ability. It will lighten your load and leave you feeling much more successful at the end of the day.

4. Exercise regularly but not excessively
I have a preference for resistance training as, if done correctly, gives you the most bang for your buck. But given that we are trying to create a habit, it is worth picking something you enjoy doing. Whatever you choose, make sure it is something that you can see yourself doing in a year from now.
