EuropeActive have recently appointed Colin Huffen from the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical (CIMSPA) to its Professional Standards Committee (PSC).
CIMSPA overseas the registration of sport and physical activity professionals in the UK and strives to recognise individuals’ high levels of professionalism, qualifications, and skills. As the Head of Standards and Regulations Colin has considerable experience in the construction and implementation of educational standards. He will be an invaluable addition to the PSC team in its work as the leading body in developing the occupations and registration of the European health and fitness sector workforce.
Julian Berriman, the Director of the PSC commented: “I very much look forward to working with Colin to ensure the alignment of the UK and European educational standards in order to ensure the on-going portability of qualifications. The UK has always taken a lead in standards and qualification development and it is vital that we stay connected and learn from our mutual experiences”.
On accepting a position on the PSC, Colin Huffen stated: “I’m delighted to be considered to join the Professional Standards Committee, it’s an honour to have the opportunity to both share with and learn from our European friends, it will be hugely beneficial for us both. I’m really looking forward to contributing to the excellent work coordinated by Europe Active and seeing its impact to support the UK’s Sport and Physical Activity workforce”.
