About me:

I have always wondered why people with special needs are not properly integrated in the sports sector. Yet, equity and quality education are on the agenda of the sustainable development goals 2030. Therefore, as a personal trainer, special educator, and an educational technologist, I am dedicating my career to integrate people with down syndrome into the sports field by making sports accessible to them and teaching them to be more independent in their trainings to the furthest extent possible. I do my best to overcome the distance difficulties through online services, the medical difficulties, and the developmental delays of the brain in this population to help them develop their everyday functional skills through physical exercise. I chose these people specifically due to their funny and happy approach to life, their common comorbid health conditions that accompany this genetic problem, and their functional limitations, such as climbing the stairs, maintaining their balance, and lacking adequate strength in their fine and gross motor movements. To become qualified and accountable for this mission, I have taken the following fitness courses: Fitness Instructor, Personal Training, and Special Populations. I also have a Bachelor's degree in teaching and a diploma in special education. I am also currently developing my master's thesis in educational technology, in which I am developing a sports curriculum for learners with down syndrome and experimenting its effectiveness. I also do my best to constantly upgrade my information related to the field through workshops, reading books, and podcasts. When it comes to my experience, I had been a Zumba instructor from 2016 till 2020, until the pandemic kicked in. I am looking forward to constantly enhance my knowledge and experience with this population at every chance possible.
