My name is Jose and I am a personal trainer with a focus on optimizing movement, conditioning, and strength through active fitness.
I was born and raised in Guatemala and throughout the past 12 years, I have since had the opportunity to live and work throughout the Americas, the Middle East, and the Asia Pacific.
As a fitness trainer, I have worked with expats and locals in the different countries where I have been based. This has allowed me to train clients from various age groups from athletes to seniors, as well as to experience the local culture.
I moved to Lyon the beginning of 2020, and hope to serve the English, Spanish and French speaking communities here.
I have been successfully involved in a variety of sports from a young age. In bodybuilding, I represented my country, Guatemala in the IFBB Iberoamerican Championships in the 70 Kg category the following countries: Lima, Peru in 2000, La Asuncion, Paraguay in 2001, and in the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Nassau, Bahamas in 2003.
A decade ago, I started training long distance triathlon and subsequently classified and competed in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii in 2018, the 70.3 World Championships in 2017, and the Xterra Off Road Triathlon World Championships in Maui, Hawaii in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Through consistent course-work and continuous reading I keep myself up to date with information regarding new ways to train smarter and recover faster with a primary focus on pre-hab work for the prevention of injuries.
My main goal is to provide a well-rounded workout focused on safety, technique, conditioning, mobility, and strength.
I am available for one-on-one sessions or group sessions at your home or an outdoor venue. I am also a certified TESOL teacher (English as a Second Language), so feel free to book and enjoy a good workout session while you also practice your English or Spanish.
