This course aims to provide the learner with the knowledge and practical application methods to deliver best practice digital health coaching. By best practice we mean health coaching practices, methods and procedures that are informed by scientific evidence and health behavior change models in order to safely and effectively obtain improved client outcomes.
The course will provide the learner with a foundational understanding of holistic assessment and intervention methods relevant to health coaching as well as practical application methods to understand how to best apply these in an online health coaching setting. After completing this course the learner will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to deliver high value client-centered health coaching through an eclectic and integrative approach to support clients to promote healthy behavior and effectively help them reach their health goals.
Following completion of this course the learner will have an extensive understanding on how to apply best practice health coaching in a digital setting, with the use of evidence-informed assessment- and intervention methods as well as validated outcome measures. The learner will be able to design general holistic health coaching interventions for your clients as well as be able to personalize your approach to each individual client. This course does not qualify or certify you to diagnose or treat people with diseases, ie. chronic lifestyle diseases.
The course learning style is asynchronous learning, meaning the learner may learn on their own schedule, within a certain timeframe.

Learning Outcomes:
Part I - The history of health coaching
This first section digs into the topic of what health coaching is as well as how coaching and the role of a health coach has evolved over the years.
Part 2 - Health behavior change
This part explains what health behavior change means, and why it may be difficult for human beings to change or improve health behavior. This section also provides a theoretical overview of health behavior change, and why it is important to have a basic understanding of health behavior change as a (digital) health coach.
Part 3 - Coaching fundamentals
This part digs into the fundamentals, key principles and best practice guidelines of digital health coaching. It will include a section about what the role of a health coach first and foremost is.
It will go into the topics of client-centeredness, the therapeutic relationship/alliance and how to foster trust in a coaching course, and why it is important.
This part will get into what is considered best practice for how a health coach should conduct themselves professionally, consider client safety and comply with professional standards?
Finally this part will include a section about the topic of evidence based practice, which will revolve around a depiction about what it means, why it’s important to base coaching decisions and use coaching tools that are informed by evidence.
Part 4 - Designing digital health interventions
This part is about how an online coach designs best practice digital health-behavior change interventions. It will include an introduction to the AIO framework of digital health coaching.

Part 5 - Digital assessment
This part is about how to assess clients in digital health coaching courses by using valid and reliable assessment methods.

Part 6 - Digital health intervention tools/methods/strategies
This part is will be about, as a digital health coach, how to help clients reach their goals and promote their health through holistic and evidence informed intervention methods.
Part 7 - Digital outcome measurement
This part is about how to monitor the coaching process through relevant key health metrics and how to track and measure client outcomes both on and individual level and across the coaches whole client portfolio.
Part 8 - facilitating client self-efficacy and sustainable health behavior changes
This part is about how an online coach designs best practice digital health-behavior change interventions.
