Your Reformer

Title:

Your Reformer – Pre and Post Natal Reformer Pilates Short Course

Description:

A standalone course focused entirely on the pre- and post-natal population – covering anatomy and physiology, safety, and an extensive Reformer repertoire so instructors can confidently teach, manage, modify and support clients through every stage of pregnancy and post-natal recovery.

Learning Outcomes:

• Explain the key physiological and hormonal changes occurring in the mother and baby across each trimester of pregnancy.
• Apply trimester-appropriate Reformer modifications across core exercise categories, including footwork, bridging, abdominal work and plank variations.
• Identify key programming considerations for pregnancy sessions: mobility and release, breath and core connection and posture and alignment.
• Describe the physiological process of postpartum recovery, including fascial remodelling timelines and realistic recovery expectations beyond the traditional six-week window.
• Conduct appropriate postnatal screening, including medical clearance checks and red-flag questioning across bleeding, infection, wound healing and cardiovascular concerns.
• Design a phased postnatal programming approach, progressing clients safely from foundational breath and pelvic floor work through to rebuilding functional strength.
• Select and modify exercises appropriately across post-natal recovery phases, adjusting for individual symptoms and healing stages.
• Define the scope of practice for a pre- and post-natal movement professional, including what falls within and outside of this role.
• Recognise red-flag symptoms during pregnancy and postpartum that require referral to a medical or allied health professional.
• Apply referral pathways appropriately, understanding when and where to direct clients to other health practitioners.
