We live in a culture that glorifies overworking and under-recovering. This is true in all disciplines; whether you work in an office or hospital, or are an athlete. We are often taught from a young age with very full schedules, that sleep comes second to work and achievement. Magee et al. (2009) conducted an analysis of surveys from over 49,000 middle-aged adults and concluded that insufficient sleep was most highly correlated with long working hours.

According to an international study by British scientists, at least 3.9 million premature deaths are avoided every year worldwide by physically active individuals. In Greece, it is estimated that 4,600 people aged 40 to 74 avoid premature death each year, by simply remaining physically active.

EuropeActive recently announced that preliminary data collected by King Juan Carlos University and AWRC-Sheffield Hallam University reveals extremely low levels of Covid-19 risk in fitness clubs and leisure facilities. With more than 62 million visits analysed, the average infection rate sits at 0.78 per 100.000 visits.
