It’s EuropeActive’s (EREPS' parent organisation) mission to get more people, more active, more often. EREPS is a big part of this mission by being the keeper of a public register of exercise professionals in Europe, working with people every day to motivate them to do just that: be active. But there’s more: we also host events, bring together key stakeholders and have also taken up the task to gather as much information as possible on fitness events that are already taking place throughout Europe.

Just launched: the European Week of Sport Handbook 2019

The European Week of Sport Handbook for 2019 has been published to fully inform people about the European Week of Sport, a European Commission’s initiative which runs from 23 to 30 of September and encourages European citizens to be more active and embrace healthy lifestyles. The 2019 communication toolkit includes campaign objectives, target audience, key hooks, messaging, social media and much more.

Eurofit Fest: a Unique and Fun Way to Gain new Knowledge

Julian Berriman, the Director of EREPS/EuropeActive's Professional Standards Committee attended the Eurofit Fest 2019 event run by Bodifit in Medvode, Slovenia on 9th and 10th March. Julian (photo below, centre) was delighted to attend and to present on the work of EuropeActive and the European Register of Exercise Professionals. The event was a huge success and featured many highly informative and innovative group fitness and personal training sessions from both local and international speakers.

EREPS Members from Iceland and Scotland at Algarve Cup 2019

The 2019 Algarve Cup was the 26th edition of the international women’s invitational football tournament held in Portugal between 27th February to 6th March. During the tournament, on 4th March, Scotland (FIFA ranking 20th) played against Iceland (FIFA ranking 22nd) in an exciting matchup that delivered 5 goals in total with Scotland taking the victory. Supporting Women in Fitness Worldwide

Today is March 8: International Women’s Day. How are we working towards a balance in female/male representation and equal fitness opportunities in the world?

Let’s start with some statistics: 41% of the members of our European Register of Exercise Professionals (EREPS) are female. In absolute numbers, Denmark (!) has the most EREPS qualified female fitness professionals, followed by Italy, Sweden, Spain and Germany. The biggest female/male imbalance in the Pilates Qualification-group: 83% is female here.

Why EuropeActive hosts the Training Provider Forum (TPF)

Within EuropeActive, EREPS's parent organisation, there is a growing number of Accredited Training Providers: organisations that offer training and courses based on the EuropeActive Standards. These Standards have been agreed as the minimum requirements for an individual to be called an exercise professional, who are then able to apply for registration with the European Register of Exercise Professionals (EREPS) and the National Registers working within its Programme.
