EREPS - excersie, cancer treatment
English

It is a well-known fact that people should exercise and get involved in any kind of physical activity in order to stay healthy. Exercising is essential in order to maintain a healthier body and mind, and it can be a decisive factor in the prevention of diseases. A paper published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, a journal of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), suggests that exercise is essential for patients diagnosed with cancer who are under treatment, regardless of the type of treatment.

The report stressed the importance of starting exercise as soon as possible, after the consultation of the patient’s doctor, even before starting treatment such as chemotherapy. Dr Flavio D’Ascenzi highlighted in his paper the fact that physical activity before, during and after cancer treatment can counteract the negative effects of therapies on the cardiovascular system. In addition, it can relieve symptoms such as nausea and fatigue and help prevent unwanted changes in body weight.

EuropeActive and EREPS strive to get more people, more active, more often, and aim to encourage thousands of inactive Europeans to embrace an active and healthier lives through different initiatives like the #LetsBEACTIVE Project and the #LetsBEACTIVE Campaign. We believe that physical activity is the key to not only keep our bodies in shape, but most importantly is a way to keep being healthy and support people to face health problems.
