Having a robust immune system is more important than ever as we are constantly challenged with infections, toxins, trauma, stress and poor nutrition. It's important to understand and be able to recognise the problems that we face when our immune system is not operating optimally. This will be the topic of our EREPS webinar on Thursday 23 April, 15:00 CET*.

At the recent International Standards Meeting, taking place on 21 and 22 November in Copenhagen, Denmark - Julian Berriman, the Director of the Professional Standards Committee, outlined some of EuropeActive’s plans for a European Certifying Organisation.
Are you contemplating following a new course or extend your scope of practise by learning new skills? Do you find yourself pondering if continuing education is worth the time and money? Why not plan for your future – starting with a Lifelong learning plan for 2020 – with the steps we propose on our blog:
Step 1: Brainstorming
A brainstorm is a thinking process commonly used in study and work situations. It can be done individually or in a group. When thinking about lifelong learning in 2020, and what it means for you, try the following steps:
At the recent Copenhagen ISM Julian Berriman the Director of EuropeActive's Professional Standards Committee (PSC) presented both Rita Santos Rocha, Professor from the Escola Superior de Desporto de Rio Maior (port Sciences School of Rio Maior) and Simona Pajaujiene (Programme Director at LAFC Lithuanian Association of Fitness Clubs and Co-founder and Director at ActiveTraining) with an honorary award for their outstanding contribution to the work of the Committee in the development of the educational standards for the European fitness sector.
Health and Fitness Instructors (HFIs) are the main source to convey exercise-related information to the general public. They provide information and implement counselling in exercise information, exercise prescription, clients’ fitness assessment and guidance. A study developed by the Lithuanian Sports University raised two key questions related to their Professional skills: Do Health and Fitness Instructors working in the Lithuanian industry demonstrate solid competencies, which are important or even mandatory for collaborating with the healthcare and other sectors?
With the recent approval of the French Ministry of Sport a new Professional Qualification Certificate (CQP) for Fitness Instructor has been developed that will open new opportunities for the training and qualification of fitness professionals.
The design of the CQP is based on EuropeActive standards and has been proposed by a consortium including France Active, Planet Fitness and the sport employers’ organisation COSMOS. The CQP can be considered to be a sector-led initiative that should become an alternative to the current brevet d’état system.
